Choosing toys for a toddler boy can feel like a gamble—one minute he’s obsessed with a toy truck, and the next he’s stuck on the idea of spraying the water hose to make mudpuddles. With so many options (and so much clever marketing), how do you know what’s actually worth your money? That’s why I rounded up the must-have toddler boy toys of 2025—the ones that keep little hands busy, are open ended, spark creativity, and survive more than five minutes of rough-and-tumble play. If you’re ready to skip the clutter and invest in toys that really deliver, you’re in the right place.

Dear Mama’s to baby boys: For reference, every toy on this list was brought for my son at Christmas(9M) or his Birthday(12M) and is used daily over here! And will be for many years! I promise this list is for you too! There are the toys that your baby boy will actually play with as a toddler.

Our Top Ten!

If you purchase through any link throughout the post, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

1. Our Favorite Balls!

This ball set is by far the favorite in the house! For three reasons

  1. It comes with every ball your little baller could possibly need.
  2. The balls are soft enough to not hurt when you get hit, but durable so they will last a long time.
  3. Honestly, you can’t beat the quality at this price! It comes out to less than $2.25 per item.

2. Toddler T-Ball Set

My son LOVES playing sports! Maybe it’s because both of his parents played sports for 30+ years combined? Or maybe it’s because he’s been throwing the baseball from the ball set above since he was like 7 months old. We love sports in this house if you can’t tell!

Reasons we love this set!

  1. It travels really well! We like to unscrew the t for easy travel. This is almost always a toy we pack for the road since it’s so compact.
  2. We actually got our t-ball set from Walmart, but ours only came with two balls. This one comes with 10! I wish we had ten! I think it’s worth the $4 extra dollars.
  3. The height is adjustable, so it can grow with your little baller! I promise this one is going to be a hit!

3. Soft Rubber Car Toy Set

Because my son is ball obsessed, everything gets thrown eventually. These rubber cars are soft enough for when inevitable happens!

  • They are a toddler friendly alternative to a hard hotwheel.
  • Are soft enough to gnaw on if your little one is still putting everything in their mouth.
  • Comes with a travel bag so they are easy to take on the go! The cherry on top is the travel bag is a mini track your toddler will love to race his cars on!

4. Magnetic Tiles

Magnetic tiles are perfect for STEM, open-ended play! I’m a fan of anything that can spark creativity! So far we’ve turned the magnetic tiles into

  • Racetracks
  • Garages and Airport Strips for our little rubber car toys(above!)
  • Barns and animal pens for our play animals
  • Matching colors games

These are a must for your toddlers play room! (We love these so much, I’m going to add another set for his upcoming birthday so we can make more things with them at once!)

5. Wooden Wagon

We chose this wooden wagon to be our baby’s first walker. I loved that it was low stimulation compared to the popular baby walkers that have lots of buttons, colors and noises. I wanted something that would grow with my baby into toddlerhood, and this wagon is perfect!

  • It has adjustable speeds with a simple turn of the knob. You can start with the most resistance, and gradually loosen it as your baby starts to walk better.
  • It grows with your baby! Once they are walking, they will be able to use it as a wagon to cart their toys/stuffed animals around the house.
  • The wagon has a pull handle too! It can be useful at many stages!

*Bonus: it looks adorable in a nursery filled with your child’s stuffed animals.

6. Ride on Tractor

My son is obsessed with anything that goes or rolls and this toddler sized tractor is no exception! The trailer detaches and your toddler or confident walker can push it from behind. My son couldn’t ride it independently until 18 months, but he’s been playing with it for long before that. He likes to fill up the detectable trailer with nature from the yard, use his tiny rake and shovel, and take his toys on a ride!

The head lights and horn really do work!

7. Foldable Toddler Tower

If your baby is anything like mine, they always want to do what you’re doing! Even if you’re just prepping dinner or whipping up a quick lunch. No more holding them up on your hip to see what mama’s doing.

This tower

  • fosters independence
  • is super easy to clean
  • fits perfectly under the bar, but can folded in seconds if you want to store it(check measurements in link for your kitchen bar)
  • has three different heights to grow with your child
  • This foldable toddler tower will quickly become a best friend in the kitchen! They can safely see and engage with you while you cook.

8. Baby Balance Bike (12-24M)

If your baby is approaching 12 months and doesn’t have a balance bike this is a must for their christmas list! My son has been whipping this around since he was 10 months old.(Pictured above!)

Pro’s to this baby balance bike

  • the bike is sturdy but light enough in weight your toddler can carry it
  • encourages independence- they can do it by themselves quickly without the pedals
  • the four wheels are a great scaffold for beginner balance
  • it comes in so many different colors!

*Don’t forget to add a helmet to your cart with this idea*

We got these from a fellow toddler mama friend last Christmas. Man, this toy didn’t disappoint.

The matching egg toy

  • encourages scoffled problem solving and shape/color recognition
  • enhances fine motor skills with hand manipulation
  • Your toddler will love discovering and exploring the shapes in this toy!

10. MEGA BLOKS Toddler Lego Set

This Mega Bloks Toddler Lego Set is perfect for little hands! We are big fan of open ended toys that foster creative thinking. These legos do just that. So far in our playroom we’ve made animal barns, rockets, dinosaurs, towels, tunnels and garages for our mini cars from #3 on list! The options for creation are endless with this toy!
