Your Virtual Big Sis, Chelsea Salinas
You might be wondering who the heck Chelsea Salinas is, and why she is calling herself my big sis. LOL. We will see if that sticks. I’m just taking one imperfect step in front of the other over here.
If you told me a few years ago I’d be writing a blog to new moms, I definitely wouldn’t have believed you. For one, I almost wrote off the internet altogether. I wanted to protect my little newborn from the world. Sharing any bit of him to the world at the time felt like too much. Two, I almost failed English in high school. I’ll never forget getting a 32 on an essay and thinking the world was ending. I feel like a grammar nightmare, but I went on to become a teacher and helped hundreds of kids learn the fundamentals of English. Ironic. I know! Just know, I’m writing to you how I’d voice memo you if you were my little sister(the beautiful young lady in the first photo) or a new mom friend in need of some encouragement.
My husband and I are high school sweethearts. I’m sure I’ll write a post all about our love story one day. It’s one of my favorites. One for the books, but fast-forward for now, I’m currently living my dream. The type I always prayed about. I have a truly incredible marriage. A partner I can trust, who is reliable, is our provider, our safe place, who pursues me daily, is a rockstar father to our son, is my best friend, my true ride or die. Gosh, I love that man. I have a precious son who is the light of our little world. He makes us want a million more. God is at the heart of our family. And I get to spend each day at home with our son. Everything is exactly what I prayed for. All that to say, we are far from perfect. We haven’t been immune to the scars of life; there is a lot of trauma I wish we could undo, and we’ve ridden a wild rollercoaster of life so far with the highs and lows. But we are here, and I love our little life. It’s a dream. If you feel like your dream life is out of reach, let me encourage you. There is serious power and purpose in living life in God’s design. You can create your dream life by choosing to romanticize your life. Here’s how I can help!
Becoming a mother has been one of the sweetest things. It feels like just yesterday(three years ago) that I was pregnant, awake in the middle of the night, rage googling all the new things that come with a baby. I had a thousand questions. I’m the oldest child and first grandchild, so it’s not like I had lots of people having babies around me either. Thankfully, I have two best friends who are just one step ahead of me. I asked them alllllll the unfiltered questions. I’m talking… Why do I need adult diapers post birth? Oh, and how many do I need? What’s it like to breastfeed? Who do you go to for help with that? Was birth as painful/painless as people really describe? You don’t just have to push on on your back, right? What do I actually need to add to my baby registry? Do you like your stroller? Like really like? Buy again, like?
If you read this far, I hope I can be your mama friend, your virtual big sis, who is just a few steps ahead. I can encourage you to see the beauty in the mundane tasks that motherhood requires, inspire you to view your new job, Mama, as the most important one on earth, and give you all the real tips to thrive in motherhood!
If you want to chat with me directly, you can find me @thechelseasalinas on Instagram. No question is too crazy. Love you already!
